Exient proud to partner w/ Interactive Futures

Hats off to the Interactive Futures organizers who last week curated a great event, giving children, students and parents in Leamington Spa and beyond the opportunity to learn all about the video games sector in the region – and the huge range of careers available within it.

Exient is proud to be part of ‘Silicon Spa’, which is home to some of the biggest names in UK games development – including Codemasters, Playground Games, Sumo Digital – along with many independent studios.

Interactive Futures has become an annual event, bringing together the local studios and community to celebrate the rich seam of video games talent in the region. This year, due to the pandemic, the conference and expo took a slightly different format – being hosted virtually across five days.

Keynote talks were presented by the likes of Caroline Dinenage MP, Minister of State for Digital and Culture; Create Central Chair Ed Shedd; and Ukie CEO Dr Jo Twist.

But the key focus for the Leamington Spa community was on careers and talent, with sessions designed for school children, students and their parents to outline the range of careers available in the games industry, plus the skills and qualifications required to embark on a journey in games.

And we’re delighted that Exient’s Marketing Engineer Tommy Prentice took part in one such session, discussing the options available to young people alongside peers from Codemasters, Rebellion, Rivr and Ubisoft.

“Interactive Futures was an experience I couldn’t turn down!” said Tommy. “It wasn’t long ago I was in a similar position to many of those watching. I hoped by sharing my experiences and knowledge I could help encourage viewers to see the games industry as both an exciting and rewarding industry to be a part of.”

Over 1,000 people registered to attend Interactive Futures virtually. We’re sure that they were inspired by the great sessions that were hosted – and we look forward to seeing the next generation of games talent emerge over the coming years!
